Sand Springs Police To Receive Much-Needed Tech Upgrade

Posted: Updated:
SAND SPRINGS, Oklahoma -

Bond money will give the Sand Springs Police Department a long-awaited technology upgrade.

Police officers in Sand Springs said the new technology will be a game changer for them.

It will help officers get the information they need, faster than ever before.

Sand Springs voters approved a bond issue last November allowing emergency services to upgrade their computer equipment.

Since the vote, Sand Springs officers researched which system would work best for them.

The City Council approved the new software on Monday. Sand Springs Police Captain Todd Enzbrenner said it will be a big benefit for the department, and in turn for residents.

The system the department uses now is 15 years old and makes it tough for patrol officers to get important information they need while working a case like a suspect's or victim's histories.

The new software will help them streamline the information and make it much easier for officers to find the data they need.

"It's time. It's been way past due. We've got such a good relationship with our public that it was kind of easy to do. We were sweating bullets for sure but we were going to go into a brand-new building with a 15-20-year-old system and we didn't want to do that," Enzbrenner said.

Officers said they are expecting this technology to take a little over a year to build and implement.
