It took us all month to get some decent weekend weather here in Green Country, but we’ve finally pulled it off!  Get ready for a spectacular Saturday.

There’s no need for umbrellas and jackets this weekend.  Instead, make sure you’ve got the sunscreen!  It’ll be another sunny day across Green Country with a nice warm-up.  Highs will range from the mid 70s north of Tulsa to the low 80s across southeast Oklahoma, with a light breeze.  Talk about beautiful!

Like I mentioned though, make sure you apply the sunscreen early and often!  The UV index will be pushing the high to very high category this weekend, meaning you could pick up a sunburn in as little as 15 to 20 minutes.

The beautiful weather will continue into Sunday!  Mostly sunny skies with a few clouds mixed in can be expected tomorrow, with highs again in the upper 70s to low 80s across Green Country.  The one difference:  winds will be much stronger on Sunday as we return to a gusty southeast wind.

Gusty south winds will be a common theme throughout next week, a sign of a changing weather pattern as a stormier setup then begins to take shape.  Clouds will steadily increase Monday into Tuesday, though highs should still climb into the upper 70s.  A few storms will likely fire up along a dryline set up in the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles, but these are likely to stay west of Green Country on Monday and Tuesday.

Storm chances for eastern Oklahoma increase by mid-week as a strong storm system kicks out of the southwest United States and into the Plains.  Scattered storms will be possible Wednesday, with the highest chance of storms looking to come on Thursday as of now.  Severe storms will be possible both days, and all modes of severe weather appear to be possible.  It’s still too early for specifics, but be thinking ahead about your severe weather preparations for next week and we’ll keep you advised!
