Tulsa Gun Battle Sends 2 People To The Hospital

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police say two groups of people fired shots at each other at 3rd and Wheeling at about 12:30 Monday afternoon.

Police said several people were walking on 3rd Street when a black sedan with several people inside pulled up and the two groups started shooting at each other.  Officers think the people in car then chased after the people on foot.

Police said the two people shot had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police responded to the scene around 12:30 Monday afternoon.

Charles Hicks was in the neighborhood at the time and heard the shooting.

"All of a sudden I started hearing things fly right by us," said Hicks.  "I knew in my heart it had to be a gun, but I dismissed it right after it stopped cause you hear this stuff kind of all the time."

Police said at least 20 shots were fired, with several bullets hitting cars parked at a business in the area.

TPD said the two people who were shot showed up at a hospital.  Officers took several people who showed up there to headquarters to interview them about the shooting.

Police say this was not a random shooting and that the victims knew each other.
