Police say the accused gunman in Jenks' first homicide since 2014 is in jail right now.

The 21-year-old suspect, Justin Little, showed almost no emotion as police moved him from the city jail en route to the Tulsa County Jail.

Police say Little was arrested around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Bristow by both Jenks and Bristow Police.

Police began investigating after a body was found by the train tracks near North Birch Street and West F street on April 22nd.  The victim had been shot from behind.

"I think the message to the community is that we've always maintained we're an extremely safe community, we haven't had a homicide in several years," said Chief Cameron Arthur.

Police say they were able to identify their suspect, Little, with the help of witnesses and video evidence.

They also say that Little and Weatherford knew each other.

Jenks Police Department says its officers put in a lot of hours to find their suspect.

"I want to say that I appreciate the hard work and dedication of all my officers," stated Arthur.  "They worked extremely hard to provide the victim's family justice."

The community is still surprised by the first murder in four years.

"Usually, it's pretty quiet around here.  There's not even a lot of kids that live over here," said Jenks freshman Avery Adams.

Adams' grandmother has lived in the area for almost 17 years.

"The people are really nice, the neighbors all kind of look out for each other.  You just don't expect anything like this to happen," declared area resident Cleta Piearcy.

Police say they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and are proud of the officers for bringing the suspect to justice.

"We feel, always feel, for the family in these situations,” said Arthur.  “It’s all about bringing justice to the family."

Little is being held without bond and is scheduled to make his first court appearance next week.
