Search And Rescue K-9 Teams Ready For Severe Weather

Posted: Updated:

With the threat of storm cells heading east the Oklahoma Urban Search and Rescue Task Force spent today preparing their search and rescue dogs for the incoming severe weather.

As part of the training firefighters hide beneath piles of concrete at the training facility in Oklahoma City, and rescue dogs take turns trying to find them.

According to Major Andrew McCann of the Oklahoma City Fire Department,  the rescue dogs are one of the best assets fire crews have during emergency situations

“They don’t recognize it as work, it’s always a game to them. That’s why we keep them going, keep them fresh. They want to get out here and do their job.” McCann said.

The rescue team says they prepare all year and are ready for whatever happens.
