OWASSO, Oklahoma -

Owasso police are asking for help to find a man they say brutally attacked his ex-girlfriend and tried to kill her.

Neighbors said their sense of security has been compromised. They said they hope the suspect, Quinton Williams, is caught soon, especially after hearing about the shocking things he's accused of doing.

"There's no excuse for it. It's gotta stop somewhere somehow," said neighbor Diana Howell.

Howell said she still can't believe such a violent attack happened so close to home.

"They're a very nice family. They've got really great kids, they're very quiet family so I was really shocked," Howell said.

Police said Williams broke into his ex-girlfriend's house and waited for her to get home.

When she got there, officers said Williams beat her with pots and pans, tried to strangle her, tried to drown her by pouring water down her throat, and also tried to force her foot down a running garbage disposal.

"We've charged him with a bunch of different crimes including the burglary, the assault and battery, and anything else that had to do with the incident last night," said Owasso Police Lieutenant Nick Boatman.

Boatman said Williams is no stranger to criminal activity.

"His history is pretty violent, he has some previous assault and batteries, domestic-related as well as some other violent felonies too," Boatman said.

"Something's off with this guy and he needs to evaluate his life decisions,” said neighbor Jared Humphrey.

Neighbors said they'll be keeping a closer eye not only on their own homes and families but a closer eye on one another too.

"It could have ended up a lot worse for her but I still feel for her. That is just unimaginable violation," said Humphrey.

News On 6 spoke to a former friend of Williams and she said she believes he is dangerous.

Court records show Williams is out of jail on bond for drug charges. And he's served time in prison for violating protective orders and domestic abuse.
