Superb Cinco De Mayo Saturday Weather Across Green Country

Posted: Updated:

Soak up the sunshine!  We’re in for superb Cinco de Mayo Saturday weather across Green Country.

Outside of a few pockets of early morning fog, we’ll have sunshine galore across eastern Oklahoma today!  Keep the sunscreen handy!  Expect a nice warm-up with afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s and a very light northwest breeze generally under 10 miles per hour.

Temperatures keep climbing on Sunday and it’ll be feeling a little toasty to wrap up the weekend!  A southwest breeze will usher our highs into the mid to upper 80s Sunday afternoon ahead of a very weak cold front.  That front could trigger a few isolated storms Sunday evening into Sunday night, though the chance for any one location is only 10% to 20%.

Despite that front, the Spring warmth won’t be going anywhere next week.  We’ll keep our highs in the lower 80s Monday into Tuesday as the familiar gusty south winds steadily return along with a few more clouds.

Our next noticeable storm system brushes by Tuesday night into Wednesday with a few scattered storms possible.  This looks like a pretty weak storm system by May standards, with organized severe weather looking unlikely.  Unfortunately, that also means rain will be somewhat spotty in nature so many of us could end up staying dry.

An early taste of Summer will arrive by mid to late week with highs pushing the upper 80s from Wednesday through Friday as humid and windy conditions return.  I wouldn’t be surprised if some of us approach the 90-degree mark for the first time this year!

May is typically our most active period for severe weather, but it looks to be at least another week, if not longer, before a noticeable chance for severe storms returns to Green Country.  Our Spring season remains a very peculiar one!
