SAPULPA, Oklahoma - A roof collapsed into the sanctuary of a church in Sapulpa Monday.

The pastor at Calvary Baptist Church on North 7th Street, Scott Gordon says that they had recently noticed problems with some of the drywall and had called a restoration company.

While a church deacon and insurance employees were in the sanctuary, the roof suddenly came down.

The church is 100 years old, but the addition where the collapse occurred was built in 2004.

Gordon says he is counting his blessings that the collapse happened when it did, because the church was full on Sunday.

He says on Tuesday, they will try and figure out what they need to do now.
