Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a murder plot, Lincoln County officials said Friday.

A 15-year-old girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend were arrested early Friday after they were accused of shooting her mother in the face, the Lincoln County sheriff's office said.

Officers were called shortly after midnight to a home near Chandler. A man called 911 and said his wife, 56-year-old Beverly Diane Crneckiy, was shot in the face and hand.

911: Hello, this is Lincoln County 911.

Caller: Yeah, I’m ... in Chandler and we don't know what happened. We think my wife may have gotten shot int he face. She's bleeding horribly. We were just woken up by an explosion.

911: OK. Just one second.

Investigators think Zachary Shane Sligar, 18, of Shawnee, and the girl planned a triple homicide after the girl told her mother she wished to be emancipated so she could marry her boyfriend. The mother refused and the boyfriend left the home about 9 p.m. Thursday.

He returned after they planned to kill the girl's parents and sibling, the Lincoln County sheriff's office said.

Officers said Sligar brought a gun from his home and the girl took a gun from her home.

Sligar went into the parents' bedroom and tried to shot the father but missed and the bullet hit his pillow, investigators said.

“He missed and he also had a malfunction with the gun,” Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty said.

The mother was shot once in the face and hand and Sligar ran away, investigators said.

The girl was supposed to kill her older sister but did not shoot her, the sheriff's office said.

“Once the plan started falling apart, she tells Zach to just leave and she had come up with a story,” Dougherty said.

The two planned on running away together after killing the girl's family, officials said.

Sligar and the girl, who officials have not identified because she has yet to be charged, were arrested.

According to the district attorney’s office, the two face possible charges of attempted murder in the first degree, shooting with attempt to kill and assault with a deadly weapon.

The mother is expected to survive.
