Spotty Sunday Storms For Green Country, But Widespread Rains Soon To Come
Our trend down in temperatures has begun as cloud cover and rain chances steadily increase over the next several days here in Green Country!
After starting our Sunday with some pockets of sunshine, particularly from Tulsa to the north, thicker clouds across southeast Oklahoma will eventually take over the rest of Green Country. Look for mostly cloudy skies as we head into midday and the afternoon, and that should be enough to keep our highs in the mid to upper 80s in most spots, with a few areas near 90 along the Oklahoma/Kansas state line.
How about our Sunday rain chances? Southeast Oklahoma has the best chance at a few scattered showers for the morning hours, though most rain amounts will be quite light. By the afternoon, much like the past several afternoons, we again expect some hit-or-miss storms to bubble up across eastern Oklahoma. Once again, any storm that develops could briefly become strong to severe with strong wind gusts possible, so stay weather aware if you’re out at the lake or enjoying some time outside!
Once again, most storms will be dissipating this evening as we lose daytime heating, but there are PLENTY more rain chances to come! Scattered showers and storms will redevelop Monday morning, first across southeast Oklahoma and then spreading north into northeast Oklahoma during the day.
Moderate to occasionally heavy rain looks to be much more widespread later in the day Monday, with afternoon highs only in the lower 80s to start the week! Thanks to a slow-moving upper level storm system, several additional waves of potentially soaking rains will move across eastern Oklahoma on Tuesday and Wednesday as well!
We’re hopeful that at least 2 inches of rain could fall in many spots from Monday through Wednesday, with locally higher totals possible. We may see a brief break in rain chances by Thursday, but an unsettled weather pattern looks to keep the chance for scattered storms going right on into next weekend as well, also keeping our temperatures below normal! You’ll hear no complaints from me!
