Police say a Bartlesville man was shot and killed Sunday morning.

Bartlesville police say they believe the man had gone outside to confront people who were breaking into cars near Tuxedo Boulevard and Martin Lane at around 3:00 a.m. BPD says a woman found her husband dead in the street early this morning.

"It was definitely not worth someone's life," said Captain Jay Hastings.

Captain Hastings says the homicide could be connected to a home invasion robbery that happened just 30 minutes earlier about a mile away at the Lexington Commons Apartments. Police say a woman is in the hospital with a fractured jaw after that crime.

"We're working to try to identify who those individuals were. They do fit the same description of what we're seeing on our video," said Capt. Hastings.

And while police do have some video they're asking the whole city to check their camera systems for any clues. The shooting happened around 3 a.m. so anything before or after that time could be a huge help.

"We're trying to determine patterns and times of day or night that these are occurring. It's another piece of the puzzle," said Cpt. Hastings.

If you see anything suspicious on your surveillance camera police want to hear from you right away. You can reach the Bartlesville Police Department at (918) 338-4001.
