The U.S. Navy Blue Angels made an unannounced visit to Tulsa on Thursday.

The six F/A-18 jets landed at Tulsa International Airport late in the morning. They took off at about 12:30 p.m.

The Blue Angels have visited Tulsa before. They made a similar unannounced stop in 2016.

On that trip the eight of the team's jets landed on the way from an airshow in San Francisco to the team's home base in Pensacola, Florida.

This time six of the team's jets were headed from Pensacola to St. Joseph, Missouri where they'll be the featured act at an airshow this weekend.

Visit the airshow's web site here.

The Navy hasn't said why the jets visited Tulsa, but it's likely it was to refuel and to wait out bad weather north of Oklahoma.
