Local Non-Profit Helps Pre-School Best Friends Celebrate Birthday

Redline-4-Kids, a new local non profit is using cars to brighten the days of sick children in hospitals.

News 9 introduced you to preschool best friends Boston and Junior back in December. 

6-year-old Junior is living with Beare Stevenson Syndrome. It presents obvious challenges, but none that really seem to bother 5-year-old Boston Pipkin. Here's how he put it: "He's been out of school a long time and I still like him."

News 9 was invited to Junior's 6th birthday at The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany.

The event was made even more special by Redline-4-Kids a non profit group using cars to deliver smiles to sick children.

This time around more than $3 million dollars worth of exotic cars showed up. 

"They are putting kids in the driver's seat they're honking the horns, they're revving the engines pretending to drive them and the pure joy that comes across their face is just unbelievable," said Ashley Howard, Redline-4-Kids. 

While cars help, Boston and Junior's parents say it's just the icing on the cake of this friendship. They really do just like being around each other.

"I love when they first see each other you just see them touching hands it's just the cutest thing they automatically interact by holding hands and the first thing they want to do is play catch," said Boston's mom Bridget.

Junior's Mom Sylvia said she's thankful for Boston's parents teaching him what it all boils down to is, we're all people.

"They are raising their son not to see anything different from Junior," she said.

These young ones are listening and learning, now if only we can take a page out of their book.
