The past 17 months have gone by slowly for lovers of Norman’s venerable Othello’s restaurant.

A lightning strike burned the 42-year-old structure to the ground in April of last year during a severe storm.

Othello’s Owner Jennifer Dennis says they thought they’d re-open much sooner.

Legendary Oklahoma Sports Radio Personality Al Eschbach says he missed the old place.

“ I mean one night Barry Switzer, myself, and Dean Blevins were holding court at the table. And Brent Musburger. A lot of stories that couldn’t be broadcasted, were told at this table. That’s part of the fun of it, it’s a lot of fun with some beer, wine, and great food,” Eschbach said.

Othello’s is known for its Italian cuisine and pizza.  But Eschbach says they also serve outstanding steaks.
