A Green Country pastor is on a mission to help others after a Skiatook teenager took his life over the weekend.

"He was described to me as a gentle giant, loves playing video games loved hanging out with the friends that he did have," said Pastor Adam Stang of Sperry Christian Church.

Logan Moore took his life over the weekend on a walking trail near Skiatook.

"It’s extremely difficult there supporting each other and doing okay," said Stang.

The State Health Department says suicide is the second-leading cause of death among teens and young adults in the U.S. and Oklahoma. Tulsa County’s “Copes Unit” is one of the groups working to help people deal with mental health.

"We're 24/7 they can call the national suicide lifeline, if there’s someone if a school say a teacher or a school counselor, principle, even someone that's within their community that they know that is a trusted adult they can go to," said Laura James a Clinical Supervisor with the Copes Unit.

Some of the warning signs for suicide are talking or writing about death or displaying extreme mood swings. Both Stang and James say if you’re feeling down, reach out to someone you trust, someone who values you.

"There is hope no matter what you are going through," said Stang.

"If you are struggling with suicide if you know someone that is struggling please pick up the phone and call," said James.

September is suicide prevention month if you or someone you know is suffering from thoughts of suicide click here to talk with someone or learn preventative steps. You can also visit COPES website here.
