A two-year-old girl is safe after she was found alone in the middle of a busy intersection Thursday afternoon.

Kiefer Police say a passing driver picked up the girl and brought her to safety. They say if that person hadn't intervened the child could've easily been hit and killed.

According to officers Deliena Rosson turned herself in and admitted to smoking marijuana, turning on the tv and losing track of her child.

"It's unbelievable that this kind of stuff still happens you have a child you need to take responsibility for that child and responsibility for your own behavior," said Kiefer Chief of Police Johnny O’Mara.

Police say the infant was only wearing a diaper, had dirty feet and wet hair. An infant care center took her in while officials waited for DHS. People who live near the intersection say it’s far from safe especially for a two-year-old.

Rosson NOW faces a possible child neglect charge.

"You need to take care of your children and make sure that they are being watched appropriately," said Chief O’Mara.

The child is in DHS custody and reportedly doing fine.
