Tulsans can pay their respects to the late Tulsa City Council Chairman, David Patrick, who unexpectedly passed away last week.

David Patrick, 68, served as District 3 city councilor for more than two decades and made a huge impact on Tulsa.  He was not running for re-election.

"He provided such great wisdom and advice every day," said Councilor Phil Lakin.  "We knew we were going to lose him from the council, we just didn't know we were going to lose him from life."

Late Tuesday, Tulsa Mayor GT Bynum posted on Twitter, saying he "can't imagine a citywide celebration of Tulsa without David being involved."

During the last official event of #918DayTulsa, Mayor Bynum, members of Patrick's family and friends planted a tree in honor of Patrick at Patrick Park at 5123 Dawson Road.

Wednesday, members of the public can pay their respects to Patrick during a visitation at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow.  Visitation will last until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Floral Haven.

David Patrick was a lifelong Tulsa resident.  Along with being a city councilor, Patrick was a mechanic and ran an auto service shop. He was also a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

The cause of his death has not been announced.

The city charter calls for the council to appoint a replacement.  Councilors say they plan to wait until after the November election to name new councilors to fill Patrick's seat, as well as that of Anna America, who recently resigned to take another job with the city.
