People across Green Country are pitching in to help victims of a Tulsa apartment fire.

The fire burned through the attic and the ceiling of the top floor at the River Chase Apartments near 81st and Riverside, damaging several units on Wednesday.

This weekend, volunteers were out collecting household items for the victims at Christian Brothers Automotive in Tulsa Hills.

"Imagine if you walked into a brand new apartment and you only had the clothes on your back. That's what some of those people had," said volunteer Jack Murdock.

There's still time to donate and if you would like to help, Christian Brothers Automotive in Tulsa Hills (next to Lowe's) will accept items thru next Friday. Volunteers will be there Saturday from 10-2 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 4.pm. Items accepted include furniture, clothes, food, TVs, computers, kitchen items, school supplies, and makeup.
