Mayes County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Shooting

The Mayes County Sheriff's Office said one person is dead and one person is in custody after a shooting near Spavinaw

Deputies said they're still working the case and can't release the name of the suspect they've arrested or the man who died.

Neighbors said there was a shooting behind a house on the east side of Spavinaw.

One man died, after what neighbors heard as a single gunshot.

Spavinaw Police was on the scene most of the day, but the investigation is being handled by deputies with some evidence collection work done by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
