The warming trend has begun! A warm Sunday is just the start of a return to more summer-like conditions as we head into the upcoming work week.

Much like Saturday, cloud cover will hang tough for the first half of our Sunday. More sunshine will break out by the mid-afternoon hours, and temperatures will warm nicely with afternoon highs in the lower 80s. It will be a bit more humid than previous days, and a bit breezier too with south winds gusting over 20 miles per hour at times.

The temperature trend only goes up as we head into the work week! October begins on Monday, but it won’t exactly feel like it. Once again, we’ll have clouds in the morning but sunshine in the afternoon Monday with highs climbing several degrees above normal into the mid-80s.

It’ll really be feeling like summertime by mid-week as the temperature surge continues. Highs will climb towards the upper 80s on Tuesday, and by Wednesday and Thursday some of us could eclipse 90 degrees! And believe it or not, we’ll have a few days of enhanced fire danger by mid-week as well as south-southwest winds crank up over 30 miles per hour.

The weather pattern still looks to turn more active by next weekend as an upper level trough deepens off to our west. As this happens, multiple disturbances will move across the area to help trigger scattered storms. It may be a wet end to the Tulsa State Fair as those storm chances look to increase Saturday and particularly into Sunday, potentially linger into the first half of next week as well. We’ll keep you advised!
