Police are still looking for clues that will lead them to the killer in Tulsa's latest homicide.

Detectives say someone shot a man several times near 71st and Lewis.

Police said right now they don't have a suspect, witnesses, or even the name of the man who died.

Police said Tulsa's 40th homicide of the year is a mystery.

"It's hard when you start from zero. At least sometimes you have a witness, or you have a friend or you have somebody that knows something. And in this, we don't have that yet," said Officer Jeanne MacKenzie.

The victim was found dead in a bush at The Arbors at Southern Hills apartments. Police may know who he is, but they aren't positive yet.

"We are not 100 percent sure that this is the individual that we have. We want to make sure we have this person identified fully before we notify next of kin," said MacKenzie.

Officers got a call around 10 p.m. Wednesday night from a woman who said she heard 6 to 8 shots in the area but when police came by and flew over the complex, they said they didn't find a victim or anything suspicious.

Another call came hours later from a woman who found a dead man.

Fredric Stewart said he learned what was going on when he came home from working overnight.

"I wasn't super surprised. Things have happened here before, it's not real common," Stewart said.

Stewart walks his dogs late at night and said he feels safe but plans to take one more step for security.

"I'll probably wanna keep a cell phone on me just to be able to make a call if I just see something," he said.

Once police find out who the victim is, they'll work to find his killer by piecing together the man's life.

"Who they live with, who they hang out with if they had any recent disputes with anyone, and kind of work that angle," said Officer MacKenzie.

Detectives are looking for any surveillance video that may help solve the case.
