Tulsa Man Found Guilty Of Child Abuse

A Tulsa man was found guilty of child abuse Friday, and the jury recommended a sentence of 35 years. 

Bryan Shenefield and his wife were arrested after a school counselor alerted police that a 6-year-old boy had extensive bruising.

The boy told the school employee he had gotten into trouble over the weekend for having an accident on himself. He was taken to the Children's Advocacy Center where a pediatric doctor found extensive bruising to his chest, forearms, legs and buttocks, according to an arrest report.

Tulsa Couple Arrested For Felony Child Abuse 

The child told authorities his father and stepmother hit him with a belt and a shoe and made him do military squats.

According to court records, the father admitted to beating the boy and said he got so angry while hitting him with a shoe, he had to leave the house.

He was found guilty of one count of child abuse by injury. He is scheduled for sentencing January 29, 2019. The boy's stepmother, Martha Shenefield, pleaded guilty to child abuse and will be sentenced next month.
