A fugitive that nearly ran over a South Coffeyville police officer during a traffic stop is finally in custody.
Eric Whitney, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was pulled over for an expired tag back in October but quickly fled the scene, clipping an officers arm as he sped off.

Whitney was arrested Tuesday morning in Nowata County. Nowata Police Chief Mike McElhaney said it took teamwork to get the job done.
“Today is a good day for Nowata County and all of its citizens. This morning with assistance from the Rogers County Sheriff's Department, the Nowata County Sheriff's Department, the Nowata Police Department, and South Coffeyville Police Department fugitive Eric Whitney was taken into custody without anybody being injured,” McElhaney said.
