Temps are chilly this morning across northern Oklahoma with most locations reporting upper 30s and lower 40s with some outliers in the upper 20s across extreme northeastern Oklahoma.  Southern Oklahoma into north Texas is warmer with a slow increase in low level moisture.  This has resulted in some dense fog-mist this morning.

This area may gradually move northward over the next few hours with some additional areas of fog possible in some locations around the I-40 corridor.  A dense fog advisory is currently posted from Ardmore to Ada, eastward to Atoka.  This extends from Antlers to McCurtain County.  It’s not impossible that a few counties north of this line could be added for a few hours early this morning.   Some of the hi-res models are hinting at this potential nearing the Creek to Okmulgee to Muskogee county area by early morning.

Clouds will be increasing today along with a slight chance for a shower or two later this evening as a storm system moves across the state.  Our highs should top out in the mid to upper 50s.  The moisture is rather anemic this morning across northern OK but may increase this evening supporting spotty showers Wednesday across the eastern third of the state.  Instability will remain low, but a few rumbles of thunder will be possible Wednesday across southeastern OK.  No severe weather will occur.  Rainfall amounts continue to look meager with model solutions from .10 to .30 inches across our region.  While we do have a slight chance for a shower or two tomorrow morning, the better timing will be Wednesday afternoon and evening.

As the system exits early Thursday morning, a few showers may linger across the extreme eastern sections for an hour or so.  Strong northwest winds are likely to develop as the pressure gradient tightens across the southern plains bringing wind speeds from 20 to 30 mph across our area.  A wind advisory may be required for some locations but at this point does not appear imminent for tomorrow.  Despite the shower chances Wednesday, the fire danger will increase Thursday due to the dry vegetation, low humidity and strong winds in the forecast.  Thursday morning lows should start in the lower 40s with highs in the mid-50s.

Friday into Saturday appears rather uneventful with temps slightly above the seasonal average, yet still cool for most locations.  Another front cross the area either Saturday or pre-dawn Sunday with little or no precipitation.  This appears to be another dry frontal boundary with only a wind shift influencing sensible weather.

The Christmas outlook (trend) supports a storm system nearing with rain and thunder chances along with highs in the mid to upper 50s along with active weather for most of the latter half of next week.
