Thieves Frustrate Mannford Homeowner

Creek County Deputies are investigating a burglary in the rural part of the county. They say a home being remodeled was broken into and several tools needed to finish the home were stolen.

"I work hard for what I have, and I expect other people to do the same," said Keith Roberts.

Keith Roberts says he and his wife bought the home near Highway 48 in Mannford a few weeks ago to fix up and use as a rent house.

Roberts says they were working on the home on Christmas Eve then didn't go back until two days after Christmas.

That's when they say a family member found a shattered window in the back room.

"I think it rained the day after Christmas, and from the busted window there was water in the house so they had been there before that," said Roberts.

Roberts says the front door and the gate were both locked so he believes they came up to the house on foot and took things they could grab quickly.

"I lost a cordless drill, cordless driver. I had a hammer drill in a box so it was easy to grab, a couple of nail guns - just things that you could slip in a backpack or have easy handles to carry," said Roberts.

Roberts says he's replaced some of the tools already, but there are others he has to custom order.

“They took tools that we needed to finish this job, and it's delayed us getting done," said Roberts.

Roberts says there have been several other break-ins nearby, and they are just hoping those committing the crimes will stop.

"I knew people that lived out in the country growing up who would go out of town and leave keys in their car. Here we had the place all locked up and we are gone for a couple of days and we lose stuff. It's just frustrating," said Roberts.
