TULSA — Tulsans celebrated St. Patrick’s Day two days in a row this year, with several festivities downtown.

"There's a chance it dies off a little early, being a Sunday. But for the most part, midnight is what we're shooting for,” McNellies Group Vice President Travis Taylor said.

Tulsa Police estimated about 20,000 people made their way to the Blue Dome District over the weekend.

Sgt. Brandon Smith said there wasn’t much trouble in the crowds.

"We had a few reports of some fights but by the time we got there and to the area they were reported, there was nothing going on,” Smith said.

While police didn't arrest anyone at the festivals downtown Saturday, officers did arrest two people near 21st and Garnett.

Officers say Abiduad Orozco-Orozco and Kevin Vasquez were drinking beers while driving, with a toddler in the backseat.

Police said that incident can serve as a reminder to not get behind the wheel if you're drinking while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Taylor encourages people to use a ride share service to get downtown.

"You don't want to come down and drive in this,” Taylor said. “You don't want to look for a parking spot in all of this either so just be smart about it."

Jenny Cole and her friend Faith said they planned to take an Uber home at the end of the night.

"We want to make it home safe. Safe for us, safe for the community. But we enjoy hanging out and enjoying Tulsa festivities,” Cole said.

Taylor said he was willing to pay for people’s rides home if needed this weekend.
