C-SPAN is honoring several Green Country students for their documentaries. The teenagers were involved in a nationwide competition.
C-SPAN representatives say they've come to expect impressive documentaries from students at Jenks High School and they say this year was no exception.
C-SPAN is touring the country handing out awards to the winners of its Student-cam competition. More than 6,000 students created short videos addressing the theme of "what it means to be an American."
Classmates and family members were there as these students received their certificates Tuesday morning. Jackson Cropper and Jonathan Godfrey won a cash prize for their documentary "Forging A Path."
The video focuses on how Tulsa leaders are striving to create equal opportunities in the community.
"Before I went to Jenks High School, I would've never thought I would be, like, interviewing the mayor or having 30 minutes to sit down and talk with him," said Cropper.
Broken Arrow students also received awards for their documentaries.
