Sunday, Cleveland County law enforcement officers and bikers from across the metro came together for a poker run to raise money for Haylee's family and the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Children's Hospital where Haylee still receives treatments.

“There are a lot of things in this world that try to divide us, try to separate us,” Cleveland County Sheriff Todd Gibson said. “But, it’s great when we can come together for a positive cause. Haylee is a perfect example of the strength and bravery we should all exhibit as citizens of the United States.”

Haylee Jo Bischel was attacked by two dogs in Cleveland County back in June.

Haylee and her family said Deputy Chazdon Anderson was a godsend in the hours following the attack.

Sunday, they were reunited for the first time since the attack.

“To me, it wasn’t a cop,” Haylee’s father, Joe Bischel said. “It was a friend. A confidant. The uniform was gone.”

His daughter doesn’t remember specifics about those who came to her aid. But she does remember how they made her feel.

“I don’t know what they were saying, but they were helping me, my mom and dad,” Haylee said.

Deputy Anderson said he was touched to see Haylee and her family.

“She has such a great attitude, even when I was there with her, She still was just happy go lucky,” Anderson said.

Before the kickstands went up on the ride across Cleveland County, Sheriff Gibson swore Haylee in as a junior deputy.

“Haylee, you mean a lot to everyone here,” Gibson told the girl. “We are here for you because we think God is going to do wonderful things through you. You’ve touched everyone’s lives. You are strong and we are so proud of you. And we will be here for you as long as you need us. We will always be here for you.”

If you would like to donate to help Haylee’s family with medical bills, you can do it on their GoFundMe, click here.
