Victims' Names Read Hurt, Heal On 23rd Anniversary Of Bombing

It’s the most emotional part of the Oklahoma City bomb remembrance ceremony every April 19 since 1995.

It’s when the names of the 168 victims are read out loud by selected family members.

Sometimes, the voices at the podium crack with emotion.

“For some reason this morning its seemed a little bit emotional. Normally it’s has gotten better,” said Diane Turner about Thursday’s service. Turner lost her husband Larry.

The mother of Baylee Almon said her daughter’s name has brought her great pride.

“I have people come up to me all the time saying they named their daughters after Baylee,” said Aren Almon-Kok.  

Almon-Kok has connected with so many Baylees around the country, that she is planning a party for what would have been her daughters 25^th birthday next year.“I have Baylees coming in from all over town,” said Almon-Kok.

Baylee was killed in the bombing the day after her first birthday.

Almon-Kok said after the birthday party, the group will attend the remembrance ceremony the following day.

“It’s not any easier or harder, I think you just learn how to live with it differently,” said Almon-Kok.
