Emergency crews are responding to a fatal car accident at Interstate 35 between Waterloo and Covell Sunday afternoon.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms two people have died in the three vehicle crash.
A northbound vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and went left of center into the barrier cable. The vehicle hit a southbound vehicle which hit another southbound vehicle head-on.
The driver, Philip John Hess, 43, of Oklahoma City, and the passenger, a 2-year-old from Oklahoma City, of the vehicle hit head-on died at the scene.
OHP closed I-35 southbound at Covell. Traffic was diverted. Drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible.
An investigation is underway.
