Broken Arrow Police arrested a Centennial Middle School student Thursday for bringing a pellet gun to school.
Police said a 13-year-old boy showed another student the weapon during an argument in a classroom. Officers said the pellet gun appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol.
The pistol was found by administrators in his backpack.
The school says administrators located the student immediately after being informed then worked in conjunction with BAPD.
The school said, "the safety of our students is our highest priority, and we commend the student who reported the incident to school administrators."
Officers said the student was taken to the Broken Arrow Justice Center to be transported to a local juvenile facility. He is expected to be charged in Tulsa Juvenile District Court with possession of a firearm on school property and threatening a violent act, according to Officer James Koch, BAPD.
The pellet gun was not fired, and no one was hurt, Koch said.
