Investigators arrested an Oklahoma woman accused of leaving Christian Mayberry in a ditch for hours after an ATV crash near Muldrow that nearly took his life.

The arrest comes on the same day that another teen, charged in this case, was ordered to stand trial.

The arrest also came on Christian's mother's birthday; while justice is important to her, her son's healing is the priority.

The things most people might find to be mundane - like holding a spoon and taking a bite to eat – are small victories for Christian Mayberry; a 17 year old who's slowly coming back to life.

An ATV accident changed Christian's life last September and now, nearly a year later, Angela Gray, whom court documents say was riding the ATV with Christian, is in the Sequoyah County jail.

Gray is accused of waiting hours after the crash to get Christian the help he so badly needed. She's charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in non-fatal injury, contributing to thdelinquencycy of minors and furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor.

“It's just so painful to even think about. To think about my son laying there desperately needing help,” said Christian's mother Kim Mayberry.

The night of the crash, Christian was at a party with a new group of friends.

An affidavit says Gray initially led investigators to believe Mayberry was alone when he crashed, then, later admitted to being a passenger.

Records say Gray left Christian in the ditch while Kyle Brannon and another teen poured beer on Christian's face.

The documents say a witness reported hearing Gray's son say, "You know my mom was driving it," and "Kyle and I will take the fall and say [Christian] was following us and wrecked."

Brannon and a younger boy are charged with destroying evidence and lying to law enforcement.

Christian's mom said her son talks about that night, but not about the crash.

“And how The Lord came to him and started his heart beating and told him he was gonna live,” she said.

Every day, Christian - a boy who doctors once said might not survive - beats the odds with his mom and dad fighting right alongside him.

“My biggest wish, my biggest prayer, my biggest belief is that I'm going to get him out of the bed and get him home with me and living a normal life,” Kim said.

Gray is also accused of buying alcohol for the teens. Christian's mother said doctors tested her son the night of the accident and found no alcohol.

Christian spent more than half a year at a Tulsa hospital, since then he's had to hop around between rehab and nursing homes and now he's on the brink of having to find yet another facility to move due to insurance issues.

His mom said he's not well enough to go home, so they're hoping to find a full time rehab facility that will accept Christian and the family's insurance.
