ADAIR COUNTY – Firefighters in Adair County rescued a man Monday evening from rising waters in Baron.

At first, the man refused to come out of his trailer, which was surrounded by water. Firefighters reasoned with him and, eventually, convinced the man to come out.

Firefighters also rescued two dogs from the trailer.

Other nearby residents spent Monday evening trying to save their property from the flood waters.  Pam Tennison was trying to save her father's house.

"It's just crazy, I can't believe this," she said.

Pam and her relatives waded through thigh-deep water to save her father's belongings.

"Anything that's of value," she said.

Adair County has been hit hard by heavy rains. Some areas have seen more than 13 inches of rain in the last five days.  High waters have also forced several school districts to cancel class Tuesday, including Stilwell, Watts, Skelly, and Westville.
