One Hope Ministries has made changes to increase safety, from spacing children apart to more sanitizing, in the Tulsa community.

President of One Hope's ministries says the message, “love your neighbor as yourself “ couldn't mean more, especially during the current climate.

One Hope's "Rose Bowl center" in Tulsa is a place for children to play sports, learn and be mentored. Joe Blankenship with One Hope ministries tells News on 6, the organization is working hard and making sure families are okay throughout the pandemic.

Blankenship says, "Many of our kids and families were already on the margins and experiencing adverse trauma and that was apart of their lives. Well, that's all been compounded by the pandemic.”

The non-profit has made changes to increase safety, from spacing the children apart to more sanitizing. Whatever it takes to keep fighting poverty, racism, and violence in the community. Parents like Angela Chandler are grateful.

"They've been really helpful especially with COVID going on. They've come out with homework packets, color packets, I mean just every kind of thing you can think of. If you live in this community, you need to contact them because they will do everything in their power to help you out," she said.

"Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself and to be supportive of one another in these times and try to help each other. I think that's the way we're going to not only make it but where we're going to thrive," said Blankenship.
