Dirt Bike Chase Leads To Unrelated Drug Arrest Near Sand Springs

Troopers say it started as a chase with a dirt bike around 1:30 a.m. in West Tulsa. Troopers alerted Sand Springs Police that the driver was heading in their direction. Not long after, Sand Springs Police spotted a motorcycle with no lights and tried to stop it, but that rider took off. When OHP got there they told police it wasn't the same bike they had been chasing earlier.

Police say one person is in custody after a motorcycle chase ended in Sand Springs.

This all started as a chase with a dirt bike around 1:30 Friday morning involving Tulsa Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Officers say the driver was able to get on the trails on the west side of Tulsa and eventually lost the troopers. Officers alerted Sand Springs Police that the driver was heading in their direction.

Not long after, Sand Springs Police spotted a motorcycle on the trails near 81st West Avenue with no lights on. Officers say they tried to stop the motorcycle but the driver took off. They chased him for awhile until they were able to box him in.

Right now its not clear if the driver crashed or jumped off the bike but he tried to run from officers on foot. When OHP got there they told police it wasn't the same bike they had been chasing earlier.

Sand Springs officers found meth on the motorcycle driver and arrested him on drug and eluding complaints.No word on the condition of the driver.

At last check, Tulsa Police and OHP were still looking for the dirt bike rider.
