Friday marks the 64th edition of the Backyard Bowl, as Union is still searching for its first win of the season. Union Head Coach Kirk Fridrich might have something up his sleeve for Jenks.

The stakes are high in the 64th meeting between the two schools. Jenks is going for its second win of the season, while Union looks to snap a two-game losing streak.

Fridrich's motto for his team: "be like a lion.”

"When you are 0-2 and you have a lot against you, most people run from lions,” Fridrick said. “We have to turn that courage around and we have start attacking these problems."

Having weapons in a rivalry game is crucial if you want to win, especially when you are facing Jenks.

Fridrich might have that secret weapon in senior Marlee Forsberg. Forsberg plays 3 positions and will do anything to bring home the win.

“To me he is an iron man kind of kid, he will do whatever it takes to win,” Fridrich said.

“It’s just a blessing to play, I don't care as long as I’m playing,” Forsberg said. “I just want to get to the next level."

Forsberg is still weighing his options while he waits for his first scholarship offer, but he's happy to be playing football and hopes for a win against Jenks.

"That’s also another blessing to get to play with the corona stuff and beat them,” Forsberg said.
