Early Morning Fog, Fall-Like Weather Expected For Monday

Overnight clear sky and light winds have promoted the growth of some patchy, yet dense fog in some locations. Temps are also near freezing across part of NE OK this morning. Some slick spots on elevated surfaces can’t be ruled out. Use caution. This is a low but not zero possibility. The dense fog will mix out around 10 a.m. this morning for most locations but clouds will arrive and stick around for most of the afternoon.

Temps & Rain Chances

We're in between systems for the day, with mostly cool fall-like weather expected for the day. Temps are starting this morning near freezing in some locations and should reach the mid-50s for highs. North winds will quickly return from the south later today in advance of our next system that brings rain and storms back into the area Tuesday. Midweek into Thanksgiving will be a transition before another system nears the state by the end of the week. Thursday features lows in the mid-30s and highs in the lower 60s along with partly cloudy and dry conditions. Friday starts in the 40s and remains in the mid to upper 50s for highs along with a slight chance for storms, mostly in southeastern OK Friday morning. The weekend also features a return to fall like conditions with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s, yet the data is highly uncertain regarding a weekend storm system and the impacts on sensible weather.

Rain Outlook

The upper airflow will bring another strong disturbance across the central plains Tuesday night into Wednesday morning while shoving a surface cold front across the state from the west to east mostly Tuesday. A surface area low-pressure center will develop Monday evening with gusty south winds returning across the state allowing low-level moisture also to rapidly return. This system will bring scattered showers and storms back to the area through Tuesday, but higher chances will return Tuesday evening as the front progresses from the west to east. Most data support increasing low-level moisture, increasing surface instability and enough upper-level support for at least a marginal risk of strong to severe storms with hail and wind the main threats. The front should clear the area late Tuesday night with improving conditions Wednesday and Thursday before another stronger upper-level wave nears the state sometime this weekend. There will remain some differences between certain data, but we'll include mentions for a few storms Friday morning through midday, at least across southeastern OK, where low-level moisture will attempt to return before the next frontal passage Friday.

Thanksgiving Outlook

The weekend is totally up for grabs at this moment. Almost all data support a strong looking upper-level system nearby, but the spread is quite high regarding the impacts of precipitation from totally dry to totally wet and cold. We’ve gone with only slight mentions of precipitation both Sat and Sun but this is likely to change as confidence grows in either direction of data. More than likely, if changes are indeed made, the rain chances will increase.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
