Two drivers escaped major injuries following a fiery vehicle collision in northwest Oklahoma City.

The collision happened near the intersection of the Northwest Expressway and Northwest 63rd Street just before 11 p.m. Saturday.

Both vehicles were on fire, but when officers and firefighters arrived on the scene, they found one of the two vehicles was on its roof still ablaze.

"Passersby had actually gotten the drivers of the vehicles out before officers arrived,” said OKCPD LT. Isaac Goodman.

One of the vehicle's occupants fled the scene but was later caught by officers.

Authorities said they believe the driver of the white vehicle was under the influence of intoxicants and may have run a red light. That driver tried to run from police but was arrested at the scene. The driver of the overturned vehicle was treated and released on the scene.
