Good news for Oklahoma City Dodgers fans. They'll will be able to take their families out to the ballgame this season, but there will be some new safety protocols in place.

Required mask wearing and limited seating are some of the predicted changes. Even the way fans get into the ballpark will be different from previous seasons.

"If an individual walks up and buys a ticket for tonight's game right now, we would text it to them so by the time they walk to the gate, they're receiving it," said OKC Dodgers President and General Manager Michael Byrnes.

For the first time in almost 20 months, fans will be allowed to watch the action up close and personal at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Game tickets will be going completely digital, a tech upgrade thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Messages and emails with the new COVID protocols will be regularly sent out to keep fans in the loop.

"That'll include distancing; that'll include wearing the masks; that'll include how to access your digital game program now, (and) how to be best prepared with your ticket," said Byrnes.

Plexi-glass and spacing markers will help keep people distanced in concession lines. Rows of seats will be turned into seating pods, with groups up to six will scattering the stadium. Zip ties will keep off limits seats closed.

Minor League Baseball has limited seating to 30% capacity right now, but if vaccination rates and herd immunity goes up, that could change.

"We'll start at this level but if it looks like we can manage it and if the conditions warrant it then we'll expand," said Phill Maytubby, chief operating officer at the Oklahoma City-County Health Department.

The Dodgers are still trying to work out how to keep some of baseball's favorite gameday traditions.

"We won't have the ability to be on the field a much as we would in a typical year, whether that looks like the first pitch or national anthem. We'll identify different ways to accomplish those tasks," Byrnes said.

The home opener is May 13 against Sacramento. Single-game tickets are on sale now for games in May and June. Season tickets are still being sold and include games later in the season as well.
