A bill that would offer protection to drivers caught in riots was signed into law by Governor Kevin Stitt Wednesday.
Legislators said House Bill 1674 came out of an incident in Tulsa where a truck and trailer were surrounded by a protesting crowd on the interstate.
The bill, which would free drivers of liability who unintentionally hit rioters in a roadway, passed both the House and the Senate largely along party lines. This bill modifies the state riot law.
