Health officials around the world are racing to prepare for a new COVID-19 variant.

Experts said the Omicron variant appears to spread easily.

OU Health's Chief COVID Officer Dr. Dale Bratzler said the Omicron variant has more than 50 mutations from the original virus.

Dr. Bratzler also said the effectiveness of monoclonal antibody treatments could be impacted.

He still recommends people get vaccinated or get their booster shot.
