OU Nursing School Launches New Program To Expand Mental Healthcare Access

OU's College of Nursing announces it's launching a new program to expand access to mental healthcare providers.

The university plans to train nurse practitioners whose focus is on treating mental illness.

“They are able to treat patients and provide therapy and counseling and prescribe medication in collaborations with the physicians,” said Julie Hoff, Dean Of OU Nursing School.

The doctor of nursing practice coursework begins this fall.
