NORMAN, Oklahoma -

Excitement is in the air as both the Oklahoma State and Oklahoma softball teams are hosting Super Regionals this weekend leading up to the Women's College World Series, to be played as it is each year in Oklahoma City.

In Monday night's installment of our Oklahoma's Own Originals series, "Chasing A Championship," News 9's Robin Marsh gives you a closer look and listen from University of Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso.

"Nobody fits 5,000 people in their stadium. You're making history," exclaimed Gasso, who has been with Oklahoma since 1995. The Sooners have advanced to the WCWS 14 times and won the national title five times -- in 2000, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2021.

So many shades of the Oklahoma Sooners. We've almost seen them all, and now News 9 is giving you a closer look and listen to the action on the field.

"This is a team we should absolutely smother," Gasso told her team on one occasion. "Dominate defense all the way around."

On another occasion, she said: "Right now, we own this crowd. You come out and you own the crowd from the start. So, let's go. Come on!"

From pre-game pep talks to game action to the team's traditional end-of-game prayer circle, you can see and hear Coach Patty Gasso loud and clear, leading the way for another Sooner run-rule win as the Sooners continue 'Chasing A Championship.'
