Oklahoma City Police are investigating after a car was stolen from The Will Rogers World Airport.

After a frantic search of the airport’s 5 parking lots, the victim realized their car was nowhere to be found, they then contacted the Oklahoma City Police.

“There's, you know, a lot of vehicles over 7,000 cars that are parked out here on a daily basis,” Stacey Hamm with the airport said.

There's 24/7 surveillance cameras and patrols for the airport and the parking lots, but Hamm said it would be pretty difficult to catch everything.

“Every now and then we have an incident that may occur,” Hamm said.

“An unknown person had utilized a ticket to leave the airport in the victim's vehicle, had provided an id of some sort to get that new replacement ticket to leave the airport,” Sgt. Dillon Quirk said.

Oklahoma City Police posted this photo on social media of a person they said is a suspect. The police report states the suspect claimed he lost his ticket. To leave the garage in the 2012 silver Dodge Charger he presented an ID which police say was fake.

This is now one of three thefts police are looking into. Last Spring police said two white Grand Cherokees were stolen from the airport, but no arrests have been made.

Hamm said thefts are rare, but there's things we can do to protect our property while on vacation.

“Don't leave your parking pass out on your dash. You want to make sure that is hidden away if you're parking longer than an hour or two out here at the airport,” Hamm said.

Hamm also encourages all of us not to leave our keys in our cars and to make sure our doors are locked.

If you have any information on the person police believe to be responsible, give them a call at (405) 235-7300.
