In a nail-biting finish, the Weatherford Eagles were able to come out on top over the Anadarko Warriors in Tuesday night's game.

Anadarko had attempted to hold onto the ball for the majority of the game, as there was no shot-clock preventing them from doing so, and attempted to score in the game's final seconds, missing a critical three-point shot.

High schools in Oklahoma are not required by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association to have a shot-clock during games, which is what allowed Anadarko to try such a tactic.

The game's score, with only six points combined, is the result of the OSSAA's decision in January to strike down a move to implement a shot-clock.

The National Federation of State High School Associations said in a 2021 news release there was an effort to implement a nationwide shot-clock for high school basketball.

"Beginning with the 2022-23 season, a 35-second shot clock will be permitted in high school basketball games by state association adoption," the federation said in the release. "A proposal for a national rule mandating a shot clock was not approved."

Weatherford rises to a 19-1 season following the win, and the team is scheduled to play Tuttle on Thursday.
