Late tonight and early Friday morning, temperatures will start in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
Daytime highs will approach the lower to mid-50s across northeastern Oklahoma, with slightly higher readings across southeastern sections of the state.
Late Friday night and early Saturday morning, temperatures may briefly rise into the mid to upper 60s before a strong cold front quickly moves through the area by midday.
This will bring falling temperatures Saturday afternoon into Sunday, reinforced by another Arctic air mass by the middle of next week.
Tracking Some Wintry Weather Possibilities Next week
The upper air pattern will change next week, allowing a storm system to approach from the southwest.
With more shallow cold air likely in place at the surface and stronger upper-level flow, this pattern usually brings wintry precipitation chances to the central and southern Plains states.
The shallow nature of the air mass may result in potential freezing rain on Monday night or Tuesday.
For this forecast cycle, we will continue to mention the possibility of rain and some wintry mix beginning Monday night and continuing through the middle of next week.
Another cold front is likely to arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday with colder weather. If the cold air is sufficiently deep, the precipitation type would mostly be in the form of snow.
Again, this forecast is based mostly on the pattern and not deterministic model output.
In other words, part of this extended forecast is more than likely going to change some, but we encourage you to remain aware of these scenarios as we approach the middle of next week.
