Family members of Tulsa Police's SWAT team sent a letter to Mayor Bill LaFortune Monday.

In it, they say they're angry about the mayor’s comments that the SWAT team has committed crimes and risked lives. The families point out the team has saved a number of lives.

The mayor made the comments while putting Tulsa Police Chief Dave Been on paid administrative leave after an interim report from an outside expert was critical of the department’s SWAT team.

The group behind it says the police chief deserves to be treated with respect after serving the city for 38 years, and it calls for the mayor to reinstate the police chief. The mayor says he'll decide that after an independent investigation.
