Severe weather rolls across eastern Oklahoma and southeast Kansas

Mother Nature put on a real life wild weather show in parts of eastern Oklahoma and southeast Kansas Thursday afternoon and evening.

High winds caused most of the damage. 6 in the Morning reporter Omar Villafranca says those storms blew in Thursday and some wind gusts were clocked at more than 60 miles per hour.

Up in Independence, Kansas, a tornado caused some property damage. It blew apart several structures and flying debris seriously injured one person. They had to be taken to a hospital by helicopter.

In Morrison, near Stillwater, one of our weather chasers, Von Castor spotted a wall cloud hanging over the area.

In Osage County, Sky News 6 saw a wall cloud lurking over the ground. And in Pittsburg County, near McAlester, we saw some dangerous looking clouds blowing through the area, along with some very strong winds.

In Tulsa, high winds get the blame for damaging a local restaurant. Part of the roof at Christy's Fast Foods, near Pine and Mingo was blown off. Pieces of the roof fell onto the parking lot below. No one was hurt.
