OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – State House Speaker Todd Hiett calls on the state Senate to schedule hearings for almost 20 bills he says will create new jobs and opportunities in rural Oklahoma.
Hiett's Rural Economic Development Initiative includes measures to boost investment in rural areas and increase their population.
The measure would offer a five-year income tax exemption to out-of-state families who move to rural areas that have lost population.
Hiett says only one of the House-passed measures has passed out of a state Senate committee.
Three others are scheduled for hearings before the deadline for consideration of state House bills passes next week.
