Some Creek County children honored a Meeker 2 year old, who died last year from suspected child abuse.
Sapulpa Christian Daycare and Pre-School released 200 balloons Thursday, to make sure Kelsey Smith-Briggs' is never forgotten. Kelsey's stepfather and mother both faces charges in connection with her death.
To coincide with "The Week of the Child," they released the balloons and collected pennies for Kelsey's family. Kelsey’s grandmother Cathy Briggs: "It's really touching when the little children can do something for you. You know they have more insight sometimes to what's going on in the world, then some adults have. And this is really special."
Kelsy's law is making its way through the Oklahoma legislature. The bill would provide more resources to child protection workers and hold judges more accountable.
